First Warn Weather Call

How WeatherCall Works

How WeatherCall Works

is bringing a state-of-the art personal storm warning service to the Dothan area.

An improvement in how the National Weather Service defines warning areas has resulted in significantly higher accuracy and smaller warned areas, compared to the decades-old county-wide warning method. The WeatherCall™ system is continuously monitoring the National Weather Service’s NOAA weatherwire. Using GIS (computerized mapping), the system compares a subscriber's specific location to the location of the warning area. When a severe weather warning includes your location, the system will immediately notify you through telephon e calls, SMS text messaging to your mobile phone, or email that severe weather is in your IMMEDIATE area.

All 578 sq. miles of Geneva county, Ala. are under a
tornado warning.

The Doppler radar shows the actual warning area in
the violet box, is approximately 200 square miles.

WeatherCall will only call subscribers located inside this violet box, eliminating false warnings.

All tornado warnings are delivered by the system. Subscribers can elect to receive severe thunderstorm and flash flood warnings, and how they are delivered (phone call or email or both).

Because determining your correct location is so important with WeatherCall, the system will assign a latitude and longitude value to your location, and display your location on a Google map for your review before your registration is complete. Please note: You must provide a physical street address. Post Office Boxes (PO), Mail Stops (MS), Rural Route (RR), Farm-to-Market (FM) addresses cannot be used.

If you do not know your physical address, contact your local US Post Office or email the WeatherCall Customer Care Team for help info@weathercall.net.

As soon as you approve the Google map, your registration is complete. Yo

ur storm warning service begins immediately.

For each location, subscribers may register up to 3 telephone numbers and 3 email addresses. When severe weather is approaching the registered location, the system will call all the telephone numbers simultaneously, delivering Gary Bruce's warning message, and send a message to all registered email addresses with a graphical depiction of the warning area displayed on a localized, interactive Google map which you can zoom in and out on, and actually SEE where you are in comparison to the warning area.
