Funeral services for Bessie R. Simmons, 94, will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007 at the chapel of Hughes and Wright Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Mrs. Simmons, a native of Crisp County, Ga., died Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon, Ga. She was born on Saturday, Sept. 16, 1913, to the late James Jefferson Rowland and the late Veliera Hill Rowland. She was a retired homemaker and was a member of Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons, John David (Connie) Simmons of Hamilton, Ga., Dwaine (Janice Kay) Simmons of Hamilton, Ga., and Frank (Charlotte) Simmons Jr. of Marietta, Ga.; a daughter, Ramona (Bud) Laird of Webb; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations may be made to Williams Syndrome Association, 570 Kirts Blvd., Troy, MI 48084, in honor of Farrah Shea Brown, Mrs. Simmons granddaughter, of Webb.
Hughes and Wright Funeral Home of Cordele, Ga., (229) 273-0012, is in charge of arrangements.
