Margaret Skipper Granberry, a resident of Edsel Deese Road, Ashford, died late Monday afternoon, Nov. 19, 2007, at her home. She was 85.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007, in the Cedar Springs Baptist Church, near Ashford, with the Rev. Clayton Bath officiating. Burial followed in the Ashford City Cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the Cedar Springs Baptist Church, c/o John W. King, 974 Jack Bruner Road, Ashford, AL 36312.
Mrs. Granberry was born in Graceville, Fla., but was reared in the Grimes community in Dale County, daughter of the late Henry Clopus Skipper Sr. and Gertrude Eleanor Barbrey Skipper. She moved to Ashford in 1947. Mrs. Granberry was a member of the Cedar Springs Baptist Church. She was formerly employed in the Ashford Library, by the City of Ashford and the Ashford Housing Authority. Mrs. Granberry was preceded in death by a son, Richard Grant Granberry; two sisters, Kathleen Adams and Mary Byrd; four brothers, H. C. Skipper, Rochelle Skipper, Earl Skipper and Arling Skipper.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Jackson Eugene (Eughie) Granberry, Ashford; three daughters, Phyllis G. Justice and husband, Billy Justice, Griffin, Ga., Emily G. Young and husband, Bob Young, Sarasota, Fla., Angela G. Young and husband, Gregg Young, Mobile; a son, Rickey E. Granberry, Ashford; two sisters-in-law, Merle Skipper, Headland, Lula Belle Watford, Dothan; nine grandchildren, Michael Justice and wife, Tina Justice, Keely Mims and husband, Chris Mims, Amber Burgess and husband, David Burgess, Peyton Kinnaird, Brandy Brown and husband, Wade Brown, Grant Granberry and wife, Kaci Granberry, Blake Young, Jessica Young and Hayley Young; seven great-grandchildren.
Serving as active pallbearers will be John Skipper, Joe Skipper, Jimmy Skipper, David Sampson, Grant Granberry and Donald Byrd.
