Mr. Wade Green, 78, of Spyglass Road, Dothan, passed away early Tuesday morning, Nov. 13, 2007, with his loving family at his side.
Mr. Green was born in Clayton on July 20, 1929. He later served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and was presented the Purple Heart for bravery and valor. Prior to moving to Dothan several years ago, Mr. Green lived in Troy where he was a member of Southside Baptist Church of Troy for 43 years, serving as Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent. He was past president of the Alabama Retired State Employees Association ? Pike County Chapter. He was employed with the State of Alabama Highway Department for 40 years. At his retirement he was Materials Engineer with the Seventh Division. After moving to Dothan, Mr. Green joined Southside Baptist Church, Dothan. Mr. Green loved being outdoors and especially playing golf with his friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Wade Green Sr. and Maudie Bell Green, and a sister, Juanita Greene.
He is survived by wife of 55 years, Mrs. Bobbie Green, Dothan; son, Terry Green and wife, Debbie, Eufaula; daughter, Donna Green, Dothan; three brothers, Herman Green and wife, Frances, Clayton, M.D. Green and wife, Bernice, Dothan, Bennie Green and wife, Vicki, Eufaula; sister, Jeanette Glover and husband, Lamar, Dothan; grandchildren, Bryan Green and wife, Liz, Auburn, Kim Bamford and husband, Daryl, Chesley; great-grandchild, Brooks Bamford, Chesley.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007, at Southside Baptist Church with Kent-Thornton-Meadows Funeral Home directing. The visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home in Dothan. Officiating will be the Rev. David Anderson. The interment will immediately follow the service at Memory Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Billy Joe DeRamus, Keith Snyder, Bernard Richburg, Tommy Cain, Anthony Green and Scot Vickery. The family will be accepting flowers or memorial contributions may be made to the Southside Baptist Church Building Fund (Dothan) or Covenant Hospice.
