CPO Robert Staley of Geneva went home to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007. He was 78.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, in the Sorrells Funeral Home chapel in Geneva with Dr. John Pavlus officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Geneva directing.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, Nov. 14, beginning at 1 p.m. and continue until service time.
Mr. Staley was born Feb. 4, 1929, in Carmi, Ill., to the late Edward and Maude Randolph Staley. He proudly served with the U.S. Navy and retired after 20 years of service. He also retired from civil service at Fort Rucker. Mr. Staley was a former Geneva City Councilman and also served on the Geneva City Water Board. He also served as assistant coroner for Geneva County for several years. He was a faithful and dedicated member of Mount Ida Congregational Methodist Church were he served as a deacon. He was a very loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend to all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Annette Staley of Geneva; one daughter, Debbie Maund of Ozark; one son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Cindy Staley of Geneva; three grandchildren, Amy Commander Williamson, Travis Maund and Chris Staley; one great-grandchild, Ariel Nicole Staley.
