Leslie Payton Curry of Pinckard passed away Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007, at Oakview Manor Nursing Home following an extended illness. He was 87.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007, at Pinckard Methodist Church with Dr. Delbert Freeman officiating. Interment will follow in Pinckard Memorial Cemetery with Robert Byrd of Sunset Memorial Park Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday at Pinckard Methodist Church. Flowers are being accepted and can be delivered to 1808 Barrington Road.
Mr. Curry was born on Nov. 25, 1919, in Dale County and lived in Curry Town all of his life. He was a farmer in Pinckard for over 50 years prior to his retirement in 1982. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and raising livestock. Mr. Curry was a member of the Alabama Cattlemans Association, Pinckard Methodist Church and he was a Mason.
Mr. Curry was preceded in death by his grandson, Robert Allen Phillips, and his first wife, Eva Marie Southerland Curry.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Mozelle Miles Curry of Ozark; a daughter, Claire Phillips and her husband, Tom, of Pinckard; a granddaughter, Marie Phillips of Pinckard; a sister, Maurice Holmes of Pinckard.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Albert Curry, Michael Curry, Jimmie Leonard, Tom Borland, Merlin Borland and Chris Marsh.
Robert Byrd of Sunset Memorial Park, Funeral Home and Crematory, (334) 983-6604, is in charge of arrangements.
