Virginia Gamble Jarrett Thompson, a former resident of the Browns Crossroads Community of Henry County, died Thursday morning, Nov. 1, 2007, in the Henry County Health and Rehabilitation Facility in Abbeville. She was 69.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Tom Chestnut officiating. A private family graveside service will follow in the Balkum Cemetery, near Tumbleton. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday at the mortuary in Headland.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to ones favorite charity.
Mrs. Thompson was born and reared in the Browns Crossroads community of Henry County, daughter of the late Oscar Andrew Gamble and Beatrice Clayton Deese Gamble. She retired as a secretary from AMX. Summerford Trucking Company in Ashford. Mrs. Thompson was also formerly employed by AAA Cooper Transportation Company, P.C. White Truck Lines and Whatley-White Trucking Company, all in Dothan. She was a member of the Balkum Baptist Church. Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her husband, Don Thompson, a sister, Alta Carr, two brothers, Wyatt Gamble and James Gamble, and also a grandson, David McNeal.
Surviving relatives include three sons, Mike McNeal, Headland, Mack Jarrett, Columbia, Jay Jarrett and wife, Marsha, Jarrett, Headland; seven grandchildren, Mandy McNeal, Jamie McNeal, Jennifer Jarrett, Katie Woodham, Hillary Sisson, Wade Jarrett and Taylor Jarrett.
