Mr. Floyd Arthur Alldredge passed away Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007, at 6:30 a.m. while at home after spending 90 years on this earth. He courageously battled the effects of hip and back complications as well as cancer.
Funeral services will be held Nov. 2, 2007, at Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland, Texas, at 11 a.m. Holman Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of local arrangements.
Floyd A. Alldredge was born on Aug. 6, 1917, in Oglesby, Texas. He obtained the rank of Master Sergeant during his 31 years of military service in the United States Army. MSG Alldredge was a Disabled American Veteran and proudly served in three wars, World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam. He served selflessly as Bishop and Branch President for many years in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at both Oklahoma and Texas wards/branches.
Bishop Floyd Alldredge is married to his still surviving wife, Bonnie Jean Alldredge, and is survived by his two sons, Danny D. Alldredge and wife, Carol, of Crowley, Texas, and LTC (R) Dale T. Alldredge and wife, Judy, of Ozark. He lost his oldest son, Douglas A. Alldredge, in October 2004, however, his wife Leanna survives in Arizona. Through his three sons, he was blessed with 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He was the third oldest of nine brothers and sisters, Darwin, C.D. Red, Arlin, Lenvoy, Bill, Annabele, and Lucy. He also had eight half-brothers and sisters, R.D., Bob, Daryl, A.B., Jimmy, Wicky, Cordelia and Altha.
Bishop Alldredges positive outlook on life, love of people, spiritual understanding and great wisdom positively influenced an incalculable number of lives. He will be greatly missed by all.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made either to the American Cancer Society, 2346 W. Main St., Suite 3, Dothan, AL 36301; or to Covenant Hospice, 2855 Ross Clark Circle, Suite 110, Dothan, AL 36301.
