Elma Steven "Steve" Lasseter, a resident of Dothan, died Saturday, October 13, 2007, at Flowers Hospital following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007 at Byrd Chapel with the Rev. Ricky Plummer officiating. Burial will follow in New Park Cemetery in Fort Gaines, Ga., with Byrd Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. on Monday.
Steve was born Jan. 13, 1953, in Geneva County and lived the early years of his life there. He was a 1971 graduate of Dothan High School and attended Wallace Community College. For the past 27 years, he was employed with Scarborough and Associates in Dothan as an industrial electrician.
Steve loved his family, was a music enthusiast and enjoyed history and reading. He also loved sports, especially Auburn football, and was a NASCAR fan. Mr. Lasseter was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Steve is predeceased by a brother, Terry Paul Lasseter.
Survivors include his wife Terry Teal Lasseter of Dothan; a son, Zach Lasseter of Dothan; two daughters, Layne Lasseter of Athens, Ga., and her fiance, Dudley Thomas, Sarah Johnson and her fiance, Ryan McCarley of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; grandchildren, Nathan Money and mother, Jeri Ann Williams, Maxwell and Madiya-Louise McCarley; his parents, Elma and Bessie Thomas Lasseter of Dothan; brothers and sisters, Greg Lasseter of Dothan, Jeff Lasseter and his wife, Judy of Belfountaine, Ohio, Amy Butler and her husband, David of Dothan; nieces and nephews, Brian, Brandy, Brooke and Beth Lasseter, Lauren Woodham, Garett, Colby and Graham Butler, Mikeal Teal and Mike Teal Oster; a brother-in-law, Mike Dale Teal and a sister-in-law, Kathy Teal Martin and her husband, Marty; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
