Sarah Almon Glass, a resident of Dothan, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007. She was 83.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham on Friday, Oct. 12, 2007, with the Rev. Sherry Harris officiating.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the General Scholarship Fund of Samford University or Wiregrass Humane Society, P.O. Box 1045, Dothan, AL 36302.
Mrs. Glass was born March 30, 1924, in Birmingham. She was the daughter of the late Luther K. and Emma Carr Almon. She received her Bachelor and Master Degrees from the University of Alabama. She retired from Samford University in 1989 where she taught for more than 25 years. Prior to that time, she was a faculty member of the University of Alabama and the University of Tennessee. Mrs. Glass was a member of the Pi Gamma Mu, Phi Kappa Phi, and Phi Beta Kappa Honor Societies, the Alabama Academy of Science and Southern Dames of America.
Her parents and two brothers, Col. Sam L. Almon and Charles C. Almon, preceded Mrs. Glass in death.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Edward T. Glass III, Dothan; son and daughter-in-law, E. Taylor and Teresa Glass IV, Clover, S.C.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Amy G. and Bill Young, Dothan, Courtney Glass, Atlanta, Ga.; four grandchildren.
Southern Heritage Funeral Home and Crematory, (334) 702-1712, is in charge of arrangements.
