Mrs. Lawis P. McInnis Cook, a resident of Dothan, died Tuesday morning, October 9, 2007 at Flowers Hospital. She was 79.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 12, 2007 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Ledlow officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday. At other times the family will be at the family home on 2525 Brannon Stand Road.
Mrs. Cook was born October 26, 1927 to Ed and Espy Peterman. She was raised on the family farm where her father and first child were born and resided there until the time of her death. She owned and operated Cook’s Clothing, the first retail outlet at Jone’s Crossroads, for twenty years. Mrs. Cook was a wonderful cook and a very loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Cook was a longtime faithful member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church and especially loved her Sunday School Class at the church.
Survivors include three children, Delories M. Huneke and husband, Robert of Milan, Illinois, Walter McInnis and wife, Shirley of Dothan and Debbie A. Perry and husband, Billy of Dothan; six grandchildren, Cindy Harned, Craig Huneke, Marcey Ciecierski, Michael D. Perry, Angela Crow and Brian McInnis; several great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Cook is predeceased by her parents; a son, Larry “Lawrence” McInnis and husbands, W. C. McInnis and Foy E. Cook.
