Mrs. Merle B. Purvis of Enterprise. passed away, Monday, Oct. 1, 2007, after a long and courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia. She was 88.
Graveside services will be held at Bethany Baptist Church cemetery on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Ralph Jones officiating. The family will receive friends, Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Searcy Funeral Home.
Mrs. Purvis was born Nov. 21, 1918, to Walter and Linnie Mae Bass Bonner in the Damascus community near New Brockton. She was a nurse for many years before retirement. She was a member of Park Avenue Baptist Church in Enterprise. She was the best mother and grandmother in the whole world to all of us.
Mrs. Purvis was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Purvis, her parents, and a granddaughter-in-law, Bonnie Willis.
Survivors include two daughters, Peggy Willis, Headland, Phyllis Adkison, Enterprise; brother-in-law, Wallace Purvis, Elba; grandchildren, Neil Willis, Dothan, the Rev. Davis (Phyllis) Willis, Newton, Tracy (Max) Whittaker, New Brockton, Amy (Steve) Lako, Macon, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Hilary Willis, Dothan, Ben Willis, Jessica (James) Betsill, Headland, Rickelle Willis, Atlanta, Ga., Christopher Lee, Birmingham, Sam Willis, Newton, Sawyer, Grady and Scout Whittaker, New Brockton, Emma and Anna Lako, Macon, Ga.
Mrs. Purvis grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The familys deepest gratitude goes to all of the staff on Hall 2 at the Enterprise Health and Rehabilitation for the excellent care and love you gave to our loved one for so long. May God richly bless you all.
