Mrs. Allison J. Dennis, age 80, of Dothan, formerly of Ozark, died Sunday morning, Sept. 30, 2007, in Flowers Hospital.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007, from Westview Heights United Methodist Church with the Rev. Russell Burleson and Hospice Chaplain Fred Fowler officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday evening.
Mrs. Dennis was born Dec. 5, 1926, in Elmore County to the late Robert George and Mary Elizabeth Lauderdale Jackson. She and her late husband, Dr. Emmett H. Dennis, moved to Ozark in 1958 with his dental practice. Following his death in 1967, she received her degree in Dental Hygienistry from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. She then worked as a dental hygienist in Ozark and with Civil Service at Fort Rucker until her retirement. Mrs. Dennis was a member of Westview Heights United Methodist Church. She was an avid Alabama football fan and was the best mother who ever lived.
Survivors include three daughters, Cathy Dennis Beasley of Atlanta,Ga., Pat Dennis of Dothan, and Dr. Susan Dennis Wells Ikonen of Birmingham; two sons, George Dennis of Clayton, N.C., and Ed Dennis of Panama City, Fla.; one sister, Mary Stokes of Montgomery. 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren who affectionately called her "Nana" also survive.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be made to The American Heart Association, 305 University Drive, Valdosta, GA 31602; The American Lung Association, 3125 Independence Drive ?
