Mr. Rufus Harris passed away Sept. 23, 2007. He was 40.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Bethesda Apostolic Faith Temple where Bishop Roy White is pastor, and with Pastor Betty Johnson officiating. The remains will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the city cemetery with Unity Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Rufus Harris was born on June 25, 1967, in Donalsonville, Ga., to Ruby Harris and Strap Fedd. He was educated in the Dothan City School system. He later moved to Hempstead, N.Y., where he was employed at Valvoline Instant Oil Change in Great Neck, N.Y. Rufus was a very respected man who never met any strangers and was loved by many.
Rufus was preceded in death by his grandmother Fannie Harris, two uncles, Mr.Nathaniel Harris and Rodney Winder, and an aunt, Mary Jackson.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted mother, Ruby Jean Harris of Hempstead, N.Y.; a devoted father, Strap Fedd of Jakin, Ga.; a wife, Henrietta Andrews of Midland City; a devoted special friend, Annie Bell Benjamin of Hempstead, N.Y.; a loving grandfather, Ray Harris of Dothan; one sister, Shermata and brother-in-law Jerry Payne of West Benry, N.Y.; six children, Stepfno (Vicky) Coleman, Jacquette and Rufus Brown, Tiffany and Jonathan Andrews and Erico Pittman, all of Dothan; six aunts Ruby (John) Swilling, Yvonne Harris of Dothan, Martha Harris of Hempstead, N.Y., Christine Jones of L.A., Annie Jean Nesby of Owes, N.J., Nicy Orange of Jakin, Ga.; two uncles William George (Allison) Harris of Owenburg, S.C., and Eddie (Cindy) Harris of Rockville Center, N.Y.; five grandchildren; three nieces; two nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Unity Funeral Home, (334) 792-5169, is in charge of arrangements.
