Mr. Wilmer Murdock, of Enterprise, passed away Monday, Sept. 24, 2007, at Flowers Hospital in Dothan. He was 87.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26 at College Avenue Church of Christ with Minister Keith Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in the Meadowlawn Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Enterprise directing. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday beginning at 1 p.m. and continuing until service time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation be made to the College Avenue Church of Christ, 211 W. College Ave., Enterprise, AL 36330.
Mr. Murdock was born Jan. 16, 1920, in Geneva County to the late Rufus J. and Ella Virginia Buxton Murdock. He spent his early years in Samson before entering the United States Army during WWII, where he served in the Pacific. He also served in the Korean Conflict. Upon retirement from the Army and Civil Service, he resided in Enterprise for the remainder of his life. He was a fine Christian man and a faithful member of College Avenue Church of Christ in Enterprise.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Jewel Strickland, Evelyn Simmons, and Ruby Marshall, and two brothers, Horace and Manual Murdock.
Survivors include his wife and love of his life, Edna Marsh Murdock, Enterprise; a daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Hulon Sconyers, Enterprise; a son and daughter-in-law Rob and Phyllis Murdock, Dothan; five grandchildren, Lance Murdock and Candice Murdock, both of Birmingham, Evan Murdock, Dothan, Mike Sconyers, Lisa Newman and husband Terry, and one great grandson, Joshua Newman, all of Enterprise; two sisters, Sara Bowden, Kinston, and Christell Spear, Samson; one brother, Robert Murdock, Mount Dora, Fla.; numerous nieces and nephews.
