Elsie Adkison, a resident of Daleville, went home to be with her Lord early Tuesday morning, Sept. 25, 2007, at her residence following an extended illness. She was 75 years old.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007, at Pilgrim Home Baptist Church, located on U.S. Highway 84 near Wicksburg, with Pastor Buddy Hood officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Shepard Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends on Wednesday night from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home,
Mrs. Adkison was born August 27, 1932, in Geneva County, to the late Buford and Mamie Glover. She was a graduate of Wicksburg High School, class of 1949. She was a homemaker and loving wife and mother to a husband she cherished and five children she adored. From an early age, Mrs. Adkison had a love for music. For many years she played the omni chord for the Glover Family Gospel Singers. She also loved to sing and listen to other gospel music when she had the chance. Mrs Adkison was a member of Pilgrim Home Baptist Church for many years. Of all that Mrs. Adkison will be remembered for, her legacy will live forever for the love she showed her family and all of those she came into contact with. Mrs. Adkison lived by Leviticus 19:18, "Love thy neighbor as thyself," of which we all should strive to do.
Mrs. Adkison is preceded in death by her husband, James Junior Adkison and a brother, Billy Glover. Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, James Dale and Pam Adkison, Elba, Michael Timothy Adkison, Atlanta, Ga.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda and John Rice, Ozark, Phyllis and Dale Warren, Daleville, Lori and Patrick Arthurs, Auburn; seventeen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Larry DePriest, Malvern; six brothers and seven sisters-in-law, Hubert and Margaret Glover, Slocomb, Marry and Sara Glover, Dothan, Terry and Nedra Glover, Slocomb, Dennis and Peggy Glover, Wicksburg, Rick and Dawn Glover, Malone, Fla., Gwen Glover, Marianna, Fla., Lois Pittman, Daleville; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Serving as pallbearers will be nephews.
