Gene Arthur Riley, of Taylor, passed away Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007, at his residence. He was 57.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007, at the Sunset Pavilion with the Rev. Travis Free officiating. The family will receive friends from noon until 2 p.m. prior to service time at Sunset Memorial Park Funeral Home. Flowers are being accepted and can be delivered to Sunset Memorial Park at 1808 Barrington Road
Mr. Riley was born on Jan. 26, 1950, in Pensacola, Fla., and moved to Long Island, N.Y., at an early age. He resided in Dothan since 1981 and was employed as a mechanic all of his life. He owned and operated Old East Main Auto and Truck Repair, H and R Auto, and then Riley Auto until his retirement in 2002. Mr. Riley was a member of the Alcazar Shriner Dothan Lodge 466 and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Mr. Riley was preceded in death by his parents, Roland Reece Riley Sr., and Josephine Fowler Riley.
Survivors include his wife, Nora Riley, Taylor; sons, Adam Sheppard and his wife Tiffanie, Dothan, Walter Green, Dothan; daughters, Dawn Lawrence and her husband Jerry, Greenville, Ala., Laurie Kimbro, Taylor, Jamie Abney, Dothan, Mary Green, Cairo, Ga.; nine grandchildren, Steven Oliver Lawrence, Chrystal Renee Lawrence, Buddy Lee Lawrence, Jonathan Riley Kimbro, Samuel Reece Kimbro, Chayla Nicole Abney, Jacob Robert Abney, Angel Cheyenne Sheppard and Hayden Mykle Sheppard; brothers, Douglas Riley and his wife, Diane, Coxsackie, N.Y., Roland Reece Riley Jr., Dothan; his mother-in-law, Mary Sheppard, Cairo, Ga.; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
