Michael Loyd Blankenship of Havana, Fla., passed away Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007, at St. Lukes Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at Culley MeadowWood Chapel with interment to follow at Culley MeadowWood Memorial Park.

He was born in Abbeville and moved to the Havana area in 1973 from Dothan. He was the vce president of Blankenship Contracting, Inc., formerly Blankenship and Lee, of Tallahassee, Fla. He was a member of Capital City Rotary Club, member of Ducks Unlimited of Havana, board of directors with the Farmers and Merchants Bank, former board of directors withThe Southern Bank, First Bank Of Tallahassee and South Trust Bank. He was a member of Big Bend Time Keepers, life director of Underground Utility Contractors of Florida, former member of Florida Industry Licensening Board. In 2006, he received the Ethics in Business award from the Rotary Clubs of Tallahassee. In 2002, he designed and built Skate Park for the City of Tallahassee City Parks and Recreation Department. In 2000 and 2006, he was U.U.C.F. Contractor of the Year.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years Gayle; daughters, Kelly Blankenship Holloway of Ocala, Fla., Kristy Wilson and husband Paul of Charlotte, N.C., Katy and Kerry Blankenship of Tallahassee; brothers, Jimmy and wife Carolyn of Dothan, John and wife Cathy of Abbeville, Doug and wife Helen of Dothan; sisters, Lee and husband Jewel Overton of Powder Springs, Ga., Janette Givens and husband Wayne of Panama City, Fla., Judy and husband Jerry Ambercrumbie of Louisville.
