Perlene (Pearl) Lancaster of Ozark died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007, at Flowers Hospital following an extended illness. She was 71.
Funeral services will be Saturday in the chapel of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Greg Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Magnolia Methodist Church Cemetery in Blue Springs. Visitation will be held at Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home today from 6 to 8 p.m. The family will also receive friends following the graveside service on Saturday at Post Oak United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall north of Ozark.
Perlene (Pearl) Faye Lancaster was born Nov. 2, 1935, to the late O.B. and Mattie Lou Smith in Blue Springs. Pearl attended Blue Springs school. One of her first jobs was at Chemstrand Corporation in Pensacola, Fla. She then worked for many years in the hotel industry before becoming a general manager for several hotels in Alabama and Georgia. She got her real estate broker license and owned Lancaster Realty in Ozark. Pearl was a member of Post Oak United Methodist Church. She loved the beach, going to the mountains in the fall of the year and above all helping people.
Survivors include her husband William Clyde Dunn; one daughter, Diana Bixby and husband Raymond of Slocomb; three brothers, James H. Smith of Ozark, John Harold Smith and wife Nancy of Dothan, Michael S. Smith and wife Beth of Virginia; and three grandchildren, Christi Wood and husband Brad of Opp, Stephanie Bixby of Daleville, Tami Faye Bixby of Clayhatchee.
Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home in Ozark, (334) 774-4551, is in charge of arrangements.
