Mr. Cecil Stanford

Mr. Cecil Stanford a resident of Ozark passed away Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007, following a brief illness. He was 89.
Funeral services will be Friday in Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Chapel at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Jim Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Ridgecrest Baptist Building Fund.
Cecil was born April 9, 1918, in Dale County to the late Alex Hardy and Ida Judah Stanford. He grew up farming and logging. He was a very hard worker and good man. Mr. Stanford was later employed with Hayes International and Northrop Aircraft as an aircraft mechanic where he retired after 30 years. Cecil enjoyed church activities and was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Mr. Stanford is preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Martha Viola Stanford; two sisters, Lula Dean and Mary Olive Daughtry; and six brothers, A.J., Belton, Quenton, Joncie, Mancil and Hilburn Stanford; and one grandson, Clinton W. Joyner Jr.
Survivors include three daughters, Sarah and Clinton Joyner of Ozark, Martha and William Brantly of Savannah, Ga., Linda and Gerhard Boehm of Mobile; two sons, Cecil Allen and Elinor Stanford of Savannah, Ga., Michael David and Debra Stanford of Biloxi, Miss.; two sisters, Mable Benton of Newton, Merle Scharman of Fort Walton, Fla.; two brothers, Spurgeon and Margaret Stanford of Columbus, Ga., David and Elaine Stanford of Oklahoma; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Serving as pallbearers will be Charlie Joyner, Clifford Joyner, Trevor Boehm, Todd Boehm, Paul Stanford, David Stanford, Joshua Stanford and Bennie Starr.
