Mr. Billy Scott Harris of County Road 57 in Abbeville passed away early Saturday morning, Sept. 8, 2007, at his residence following an extended illness. He was 73.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10, at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Abbeville. Officiating will be the Revs. John W. Helton and Clarence Culpepper. Other than scheduled visitation times, the family will gather at the residence of Mrs. Jeanette Harris at 1138 County Road 57 in Abbeville.
Mr. Harris was born Feb. 2, 1934, in Henry County. He was employed with Jerry Blount Heavy Equipment as a dozer operator. Mr. Harris was also a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Abbeville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Browder Harris and Agnes Grubbs Harris; two sons, Randall Scott Harris and Billy Wayne Harris; brother, Sonnie Harris; granddaughter, Kristy Wills.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jeanette Harris of Abbeville; son, Kenneth Lee Harris of Abbeville; two daughters, Penny Blankenship and husband Mike of Abbeville, Angela Bailey and husband Kenny of Dothan; grandchildren, Felicia Hardwick Bowen, Keisha Hardwick, Erica Harris, Lindsey Wills and Hayli Blankenship; great-grandchild, Emily Bowen.
Active pallbearers will be Jerry Blount, Bobby Wills, Jessie Lipscomb, Danny Moring, Lee Blalock and JoJo Money.
Kent-Thornton-Meadows Funeral Home, (334) 793-1117, is in charge of arrangements.
