Larry Lee Allen of 332 Copperhead Lane in Blakely, Ga., died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007, in Blakely from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was 60.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. EDT Tuesday, Sept. 11, at Southside Baptist Church in Blakely with the Rev. Rick Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Blakely Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday night from 6 to 8 p.m. EDT at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be sent to the Youth Program of Southside Baptist Church, P.O. Box 644, Blakely, GA 39823.
Mr. Allen was born Nov. 6, 1946, in Early County, Ga., the son of the late Joseph S. Allen Jr. and his mother, Sara Billings Allen of Blakely. He was a member of First Assembly of God but attended Southside Baptist Church in Blakely. He was a member of Bikers for Christ in Dothan and the Georgia chapter of The Brothers of The Third Wheel. He had been the shop foreman for the City of Blakely for the past 20 years. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Vietnam era.
Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his brother, Steven Allen.
Survivors other than his mother include his wife, Martha Spriggs Allen of Blakely; daughter, Amy Michelle LaRocca and husband Tommy of Winter Haven, Fla.; four sons, Clint Allen and wife Michelle of Memphis, Tenn., Scotty Allen of Reidsville, Ga., Lee Allen and wife Monica of Reidsville and Steven Allen and wife Dawn of Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister, Emily Sue Daniels and husband Ray of Ochlocknee, Ga.; and nine grandchildren.
Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home, (229) 723-3421, 21802 Lucille Road (Highway 39 S.) in Blakely, Ga., is in charge of arrangements.
