Vicki Jo Roney of Dothan died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007, at her residence following an extended illness. She was 49.
Funeral services will be Friday in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage Funeral Home 10 a.m. with the Rev. Jerry Harden officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Wiregrass Hospice, P.O. Drawer 2127, Dothan, AL 36302.
Mrs. Roney was born April 29, 1958, in Pontiac, Mich., the daughter of George and Carolyn Cooper Abney Godwin.
She was a resident of Dothan for the past 34 years and was employed with Globe Motors as an assembly operator for 25 years. Mrs. Roney was a member of Madrid Assembly of God Church.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, E.J. Cooper and her father-in-law, T.D. Roney.
Survivors include her husband Steve Roney of Dothan; mother, Carolyn Godwin (George) of Dothan; daughter, Nacole Roney of Dothan; son, Nathan Roney (Kacie) of Dothan; grandmother, Lucille Cooper of Deford, Mich.; two brothers, Jeff Abney (Linda), Damon Godwin, all of Dothan; sister, Georgia Hazel (Michael) of Prattville; two sisters-in-law, Debbie Coleman of Headland, Susan Kingry (Clyde) of Dothan; brother-in-law, Tim Roney (Debbie) of Dothan; mother-in-law, Jimmie Roney of Dothan; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles also survive.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Wallace Odom, Treavor Cotton, Damon Godwin, Tim Roney, Clyde Kingry and Jason Kingry.
The family extends a special thanks to Dr. Paul Adams and Wiregrass Hospice.
