Lonnie Bowers Marr, a former resident of Headland, died Monday night, Sept. 3, 2007, in the Wesley Manor Retirement Center in Dothan. She was 89.
Funeral services will be Thursday in the Berean Baptist Church in Dothan at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Raymond Holt officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the mortuary in Headland.
Mrs. Marr was born and reared in Thomasville, N.C., daughter of the late Earlie Foyle Bowers and Lula Mae Everhart Bowers. She formerly lived in Hampton, S.C., and Dothan before returning to Thomasville where she lived until moving to Headland in 1985. She was a member of the Berean Baptist Church.
Mrs. Marr was preceded in death by a sister, Ollie Mae Young.
Surviving relatives include two daughters, Dorothy Marr Stack and husband Raymond H. Stack of Greenville, S.C., Shirley J. Marr Skeen and husband Leon Skeen of Lexington, N.C.; a son, Al Marr of Headland; a former daughter-in-law, Violet Marr of Newville; a sister, Vada Rae Essick and husband John Essick of Lexington; 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
