Philip Murray Dease South County Road 67 in Midland City, died early Monday morning, Sept. 3, 2007, in the U.A.B. Hospital, Pallative Care Unit, in Birmingham. He was 64.
Funeral services will be Thursday in Sylvan Grove United Methodist Church, near Midland City, 11 a.m. with Dr. Jerry M. Dooling and the Rev. Gillis Crenshaw Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:30 tp 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary in Headland.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Sylvan Grove United Methodist Church, c/o Geraldine Henderson, 336 County Road 531, Midland City, AL 36350 or to the Sylvan Grove Methodist Cemetery Fund, c/o Mildred Dease, 9296 South County Road 67, Midland City, AL 36350.
Mr. Dease was born in Tampa, Fla., but was reared near Midland City. He was a graduate of Dale County High School. Mr. Dease lived in Dothan several years before moving to the Sylvan Grove community in 1986. He was member of the Sylvan Grove United Methodist Church. Mr. Dease was retired, due to disability, as the owner and operator of Philips Parking Lot Maintenance. In earlier years, he was self-employed as the owner and operator of Tri-State Well Drilling in Dothan. Mr. Dease was a devoted son, brother, husband, father and grandfather who loved his family deeply.
He was preceded in death by his father, Murray Hilton Dease.
Surviving relatives include his wife Jean Shirah Dease of Midland City; three daughters, Allison Dease White and husband Bill White of El Paso, Texas, Paige Dease Hathcock and husband Sam Hathcock of Dothan, Phyllis Dease Dickerson and husband Jimmie Dickerson of Wicksburg; a stepdaughter, Kimberly Jewell of Dothan; a stepson, Keith Jewell of Dothan; his mother, Mildred Woodham Dease of Midland City; two sisters, Barbara Dease Hudson and husband Charles Hudson of Dothan; Cecelia Dease Bush of Headland; two brothers, Joe Dease and wife Gloria Dease of Dothan, Doug Dease and wife Carol Dease of Columbia; eight grandchildren, Lauren White, Michael White, Mary Katherine Dulac, Maggie Dulac, Kade Dease, Trent Dickerson, Chase German and Kay-Leigh Jewell; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Mr. Dease is also survived by numerous close friends.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Blake Hudson, Paul Dease, Mike Dease, Clay Dell, Reid Dell and Andrew Dease.
