Jack Sawyer of Pansey went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Aug. 31, 2007.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Gordon at 11 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Bill Taylor. Interment will follow at the Eastview City Cemetery in Cuthbert, Ga., at 4 p.m. (CST). The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m.
Jack was born Jan. 6, 1941, in Cuthbert and moved to Mobile in 1947. He has been a resident of Pansey for the past 30 years and retired from Georgia Pacific paper mill after 39 years. He was a member of the Ashford Masonic Lodge, a 32° member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, S.J., USA and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church since 1975. Jack was an avid traveler, wonderful father, loving husband and a great friend to many. He is a great loss to his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Idus J. and mother, Effie L. Sawyer.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories his wife of 45 years, Jackie H Sawyer of Pansey; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Steve Cureton of Daphne; two grandsons, Grant and Chase Cureton; son and daughter-in-law, David J. and Teresa Sawyer of Birmingham; sister and brother-in-law, Sarah Ruth and Winston Whitten of Mobile; other relatives also survive.
Kent-Thornton-Meadows Funeral Home in Ashford, (334) 899-1117, is in charge of arrangements.
