Mr. Eugene Omerlee Berry of Cumberland Drive passed away early Saturday morning, Sept. 1, 2007, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. He was 81.
Funeral services will be Tuesday in the Chapel of Kent-Thornton-Meadows Funeral Home of Dothan at 2 p.m. The interment will immediately follow the service at Memory Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Other than scheduled visitation times the family will gather at the residence of Mr. Eugene Berry.
Mr. Berry was born on Oct. 29, 1925 in Arkansas. He began his working career in retail as a stock boy with F.W. Woolworths and later became the manager.
He worked with several other retail companies and eventually retired from Wal-Mart. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and a past member of the American Moose Lodge.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Tearl and Ruth Johnston; wife of 50 years, Betty Jane Berry; brother, Henry Berry
He is survived by three daughters, Patricia Hicks and husband (Rick) of DeBary, Fla., Cathrine Daughtry and husband (Roy) of Dothan and Donna Dildine of Dothan; two sons, Mike Berry and wife (Donna) of Birmingham, Don Berry and wife (Barbara) of El Paso, Texas; grandchildren, Deardra Janell Oakley, Kristin Daniel Winfrey, Christopher Michael Berry, Jonathan Williamson, Michele Nicole Berry; great-grandchild, Toni Michele Winfrey.
Active pallbearers will be family members.
Kent-Thornton-Meadows Funeral Home in Dothan, (334) 793-1117, is in charge of arrangements.
