Bernard Atherton Goding, a resident of Enterprise, passed away Friday, Aug. 24, 2007, at Medical Center Enterprise after a brief illness. He was 82.
Graveside memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007, at Sunset Memorial Park Pavilion with the Rev. Clifford Quincy officiating and Robert Byrd of Sunset Memorial Park Funeral Home and Crematory directing. Flowers are being accepted and can be delivered to Sunset Memorial Park.
Mr. Goding was born on Feb. 22, 1925, in Farmington, Maine, to Fred Harry Goding and Grace Pearl Hutchinson Goding and spent most of his life there. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Army, and was employed with Farmington Shoe Shop for several years as a personnel/office manager. He married Marion Cook Goding of Dryden, Maine, on July 23, 1950. They resided in the Farmington/Wilton, Maine, area until August 1992 when they moved to Enterprise. Mr. Goding was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Veterans Association and the American Legion.
He is survived by two sons, Terry Alan Goding of Auburn, Maine, and Floyd Dennis Goding of Lewiston, Maine; five daughters, June Ellen Goding of Ludington, Mich., Pamela Lynn Sears of South China, Maine, Monica Lee Whalen of Enterprise, Sharon Marie Goding of Enterprise and Nancy Jean Goding of Chesterville, Maine; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, five brothers, Glenn Goding, Robert Goding, Ronald Goding, Floyd Goding, and a sister, Fern Goding, and one granddaughter, Gina L. Goding.
