Mittie Cureton Miller of 212 Dothan Road in Abbeville, Ala., died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007, at her residence. She was 93.
Services will be held on Monday, Aug. 20, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Old Center United Methodist Church in the Center Community of Newville with the Revs. Jerry Glover and Gerald Maddox officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Skeen Funeral Homes of Troy directing. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the church.
Born Sept. 24, 1913, in Center Community, she was the daughter of the late Morgan P. and Mary Wood Cureton. Mrs. Miller was the oldest member of Center United Methodist Church. She and her husband owned and operated Millers Fish Camp for many years. During the war, she and her husband lived in Panama City, Fla., and Mobile, Ala. She attended Abbeville High School and lived most of her life in the Center Community.
Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Miller; her son, Larry Miller; and a grandson, Bryan Miller.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Jean and Howell Skeen, Troy; grandsons, Anthony Skeen, Troy, Phil Skeen, Smiths, Ala.; great-grandchildren, Ryan Skeen, Troy, Kelly Miller, Newville, Gunner Miller, Dothan; brother and sister-in-law, Dan and Juanita Cureton, Newville; sister-in-law, Bertha Cureton, Newville; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Sumlar, Ed Sumlar Jr., Gary Sumlar, Jerry Sumlar, Sherrill Singleton and Eric Sumlar.
The family requests memorials be made to Center United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund c/o Lindy Alexander, 1110 County Road 89, Newville, Ala., 36353.
