Perry Brannon Jr. of Dothan died early Wednesday morning, Aug. 15, 2007, at his home. He was 76.
Funeral services will be Friday in the Sunset Memorial Park Pavilion at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Henry Johnson and a family friend, Vivian Bennett, officiating. Military rites will be conducted after the funeral services. The family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. today at the mortuary in Headland.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Resource Center, P.O. Box 1170, Dothan, AL 36302 or to the Faith Baptist Church Building Fund, 234 Olaff Road, Cowarts, AL 36321 or to the Catholic Services, P.O. Box 6184, Dothan, AL 36302.
Mr. Brannon was born and reared in Sorrento, Fla., son of the late Perry Brannon Sr. and Ruby Inez Abney Brannon.
He moved to Geneva County as a young adult and lived in Dothan most of his adult lifetime. Mr. Brannon was a member of the Faith Baptist Church, near Cowarts. He formerly served as an interpreter for the deaf at First Baptist Church in Dothan for more than 25 years. Mr. Brannon retired from the Southern Company at the Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant as a security guard where he was the oldest employee at the time of his retirement. In earlier years, Mr. Brannon was employed as a printer at the Southeastern Printing Company in Dothan. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.
Perry Brannon was a kind and gentle soul and we rest in the assurance that one day soon well see him again in Glory.
Mr. Brannon was preceded in death by a son, Lee Williams; a grandson, Jason Dooling and a brother J.T. Brannon.
Surviving relatives include his wife of 33 years, Margo Hodges Brannon of Dothan; his children, Glenda Parrish and husband, Bill Parrish, of Mobile; Ronnie Brannon and wife, Jennifer Brannon, of Dothan; three other children whom he raised, Elliott Williams of Biloxi, Miss., Ashley Reynolds, and husband, Mike Reynolds of Cookeville, Tenn., Craig Reynolds and wife, Vera Reynolds, of Houston.; a daughter-in-law, Teresa Williams of Dothan; a brother, Hilton Brannon and wife, Brunetta Brannon, of Dothan; several grandchildren; a special dear friend and caregiver, June Granberry of Dothan.
A very special thanks to June Granberry, a dear friend and caregiver, as well as Jackie Morrison, Dr. Walter J. Doty and Dr. Neil Shelor and the staff of Midsouth Home Health.
