Mr. Laban (Tater) Hendrix of Hartford passed away early Monday morning Aug. 13, 2007, at his home following an extended illness. He was 76.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at Highfalls Assembly of God Church on County Road 41 in Hartford at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Gary Stringfellow officiating. Interment will follow at Wesley Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bottoms Garden Chapel Hartford.
Mr Hendrix was born Sept. 27, 1930, to Arcus and Jennie Hendrix. He was self-employed as a pest exterminator for 28 years. Mr Hendrix was a great nature lover, who enjoyed fishing, hunting and growing flowers. He loved his family especially his grandchildren.
Mr Hendrix was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister.
Mr Hendrix is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Sara Howell Hendrix of Hartford; two sons and two daughter-in-laws, David and Tammy Hendrix, Rodney and Margaret Hendrix, all of Hartford; two grandchildren, Noah Hendrix of Hartford and Jenny Hendrix of Auburn; mother-in-law, Gladys Howell of Hartford and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Carlos Hendrix, Joe Neil Howell, Al Gilmore, Scott Metcalf, Lysle Hendrix and Richard Cyrus.
Bottoms-Garden Chapel in Hartford, (334) 588-3250, is in charge of arrangements.
