Mr. William Rex Gunter of Ozark died Friday, Aug. 10, 2007, in Ozark Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was 81.
Funeral services will be Monday in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Jim Hill officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the Funeral Home Chapel following the services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Westview Memorial Cemetery Association, P. O. Box 484, Ozark, AL 36361, or to the Epilepsy Foundation, 1900 Crestwood Blvd. �" Suite 96, Birmingham, AL 35210.
Mr. Gunter was born Dec. 15, 1925, in Ozark to the late Omie Sullivan Gunter and Phillip Edward Gunter. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and worked with Walter Hand Motor Company for over 30 years as a salesperson. He owned and operated Gunter Trailer Park in Ozark. Mr. Gunter was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church and was a past member of Ozark Masonic Lodge #349.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Christine Rogers Gunter; two sisters, Lucile Gunter Hornsby and Mildred Gunter, and three brothers, Taft Gunter, Edwin Gunter and Howard Gunter.
Survivors include his daughter, Teresa Gunter of Ozark; one sister-in-law, Irene Gunter of Ozark; three nieces, Sharon Hornsby of Dothan, Bobbie Jean and Walt Szelich of Fayetteville, Tenn. and Phylis Gunter of Montgomery; one nephew, Howard Eugene Gunter Jr. of Montgomery; several other nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
