Emily Vann Ezzell of Abbeville died early Thursday afternoon, Aug. 9, 2007. She was 83.
Funeral services will be Saturday in Abbeville United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. with the Revs. Steven P. Gregg, Ernest M. Andress and Mr. John Riley officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the Abbeville United Methodist Church Family Life Center. At other times, the family will be at the home of a son, Dale Ezzell, 4, Rane Tree Place in Abbeville.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Abbeville United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 100, Abbeville, AL 36310.
Mrs. Ezzell was born and reared in Headland, daughter of the late Samuel Richard Vann Sr. and Emma Kate Solomon Vann. She moved to Abbeville in 1951. Mrs. Ezzell was a graduate of Headland High School and attended the University of Montevallo. She was an active member of the Abbeville United Methodist Church, The Greater Years, the United Methodist Women-Irene Riley Circle and the Carr-Dyer Sunday school class. An avid bridge player, Mrs. Ezzell was a member of the Porch House Bridge Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband Oscar L. Ezzell a sister, Edith Vann Espy and a brother, Jack S. Vann.
Surviving relatives include two sons, Dale Ezzell and wife Sally Ezzell of Abbeville, Stephen Ezzell of Headland; three sisters, Grace Vann Brannon and husband Julian Brannon of Headland, Kate Helen Vann Luttrell and husband Roy Luttrell of Columbus, Ga., Mary Owens Vann Bryan and husband Lee Bryan of Headland; three brothers, Sam R. Vann Jr., Felix Vann and Dr. Jim Vann, all of Headland; six grandchildren, Leigh Mobley and husband Trey Mobley, Carley Ezzell, Scott Ezzell, Blake Ezzell and wife Shari Ezzell, Drew Ezzell and Wes Ezzell; three great-grandchildren, Emma Kate Mobley, Caroline Ezzell and Charlie Ezzell; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law from the Ezzell family, Rose and Perryman Mobley Jr. of Shorterville, Susie Atta of Dothan, Sarah Ezzell of Enterprise, Mary and Charles Trawick of Newville, Allene Ezzell of Andalusia.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Lester H. Killebrew, Dr. Perry Mobley, Fred Arnold Jr., Mike Vann, Sam Brannon, Sid Brannon and Dr. Richard Vann.
