Mr. Edsel "Sam" Bell a longtime resident of Midland City died at his home Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2007, after an extended illness.. He was 79.
Funeral services will be Thursday in the chapel of Ward-Wilson Funeral Home at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Danny Sumerlin officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m.today.
Mr. Bell was born May 7, 1928, in Coffee County. He had lived in Midland City for over 40 years.Mr. Bell was a journeyman plumber having been affiliated with Air Conditioning Associates and Woodham Plumbing Company of Dothan prior to his retirement in 1993.
He was preceded in death by his parents, H.L. Bell and Alma Stewart Bell of Jack and a brother Vester Bell of Phenix City.
Survivors include his wife Addie Pearl McMillan Bell of Midland City; a son and daughter-in-law, Samuel and Tina Bell of Greenville.; a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Todd Arnold of Midland City; grandsons, Christopher Arnold of Midland City and Elijah Bell of Greenville; two sisters, Cupidean Hornsby of Jack and Ethelyn White of Prattville; one brother, Lester Bell of Jack;. sister-in-law, Sallie Bell of Phenix City; several nieces and nephews.
Active Pallbearers will be, James McMillan, Travis Flowers, Eugene Hornsby, Frankie Bell, Leo Taylor and A.P. Hoffman III.
Ward Wilson Funeral Home, (334) 792-4194, is in charge of arrangements.
