Mrs. Barbara Ann Gilmore Byrd of County Road 731 in Enterprise, AL passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at the family residence. She was 66.
Funeral services will be 10 am Thursday, August 9 from the Patterson-Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel with Reverends Harry Stewart and Bruce Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Sardis United Methodist Church Cemetery with Patterson-Sorrells Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 6 until 8 pm.
Mrs. Byrd was born November 2, 1940 in Coffee County, AL to the late Rufus and Ebbie Thomas Gilmore. She married Joe T. Byrd May 31, 1958 and she traveled with her husband to military bases in the United States as well as Germany and France. She worked over 40 years at the dental office of Dr. Jack Y. Pugh as his dental assistant and right-hand girl, as well as Dr. Roger Worthington. Mrs. Byrd was a life-long member of the Sardis United Methodist Church in the Bellwood Community, where she lived. In addition to her parents, a daughter, Sheila Ann B. Thomas, preceded Mrs. Byrd in death.
Survivors included her husband, Joe T. Byrd, Enterprise; a daughter, Debbie “Sissy” J. Moeglin and her husband William R. Moeglin, Dothan, AL, a son, Curt Byrd and his wife Noxie, McMinniville, TN; 2 grandchildren, Kyle Brookins and Kyndle L. Brookins, Dothan; 2 brothers, James Larry Gilmore, Elba, AL, Ronnie Gerald Gilmore, Enterprise; 1 sister, Gayle Boyd, Dothan; several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Byrd will be remembered fondly by all that knew her for her kind and gentle nature.
