Mart Lee Baxley, a resident of Dothan, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2007, at his residence following a brief illness. He was 45.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. David Anderson and Rev. Talmadge Butler (Wiregrass Hospice Chaplain) officiating. Burial will gollow in Taylor Assembly of God Church Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time.
Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Wiregrass Hospice, P.O. Drawer 2127, Dothan, AL 36302.
Mr. Baxley was born on Dec. 26, 1961, to Jimmy Lee Baxley and Betty Ann Butler Baxley and was a lifelong resident of Dothan. He graduated from Dothan High School in 1980 and attended Wallace College. He was employed with Southside Baptist Church as maintenance supervisor for the past 10 years. Prior to that time, he was employed with Baxley Blowpipe for approximately 20 years. Mart was a member of Southside Baptist Church where he faithfully served in the youth, childrens and music department.
He is preceded in death by his first wife in 1988, Donna Wells Baxley; grandparents, Curtis and Thelma Baxley and Thomas and Johnnie Mae Butler.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy Baxley, Dothan; parents, Jimmy and Betty Baxley, Dothan; three daughters, Ashley Merrill, Cottondale, Jessica Baxley and Meredeth Baxley, both of Dothan; a brother, Wesley Kip Baxley, Denver, Co.; father and mother-in-law, Ernest and Lucille Coker, Dothan; former father and mother-in-law, Irby and Janice Wells, Dothan.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Mike Johnson, Steve Kelly, Jimmy Coker, Fred Mallory, Larry Coker and Tim Coker.
Southern Heritage Funeral Home and Crematory, (334) 702-1712, is in charge of arrangements.
