Mr. William Grady Weathers died Friday, August 3, 2007 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan. He was 81.
Funeral services for Mr. Weathers will be held 10 A.M. Monday, August 6, 2007 at Dothan Church of God with the Reverends George Ellison and Thomas Kirkland officiating. Burial will follow at Ashford City Cemetery under the directions of Ward-Wilson Funeral Home.
The family will be received friends Sunday night at the funeral home from 6 to 8 P.M. Flowers will be accepted.
Mr. Weathers was born in Houston County on October 19, 1925, the son of the late William Valdie Weathers and Lizzie Viola Glass Weathers. He was a carpenter for most of his life and upon his retirement he enjoyed wood crafting, gardening, and listening to gospel music. He was a member of Cowarts Creek Freewill Baptist Church.
Mr. Weathers was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Gene Parker Weathers, infant son, Johnny Wayne Weathers, two brothers and one sister.
He leaves behind daughters, Jeri Wiggins and her husband Dennis from Ashford, Martha Kirkland and her husband Ken from Abbeville, son, Bill Weathers and his wife Deanna from West Valley City, Utah, sisters, Essie Bell from North Augusta, South Carolina, Mary Paul and her husband Maxwell from Lakeland, Florida, brother James Weathers and his wife Evelyn from Wewahitchka, Florida grandchildren, Derrick Wiggins, Colby Wiggins, Shannon Stanchfield and her husband John, Kimberly Samarrae and her husband Tony, Ashley Wright and her husband Adam, Shane Weathers, several great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff at Southeast Alabama Medical Center.
Mr. Weathers will be missed by his family and friends especially his beloved dog "Crickett"
