Robert Hubert Taylor of Malone went home to be with the Lord Thursday, Aug. 2, 2007, at his residence. He was 81.
Funeral services will be Saturday at Friendship Baptist Church at 2 p.m. with the Revs. Raydell Almand and Harry Kinchen officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Friendship Baptist Church, located on Hwy. 2 west of Malone.
Hubert was born near Malone where he was a lifelong resident. He graduated from Malone High School in 1944 where he lettered for three years in basketball. He married his wife Emma Ruth and joined the U.S. Army where he served for several years in Germany. He then farmed for the rest of his lifetime. Hubert was a longtime member of Friendship Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for more than 45 years, Sunday school director, training union director, Sunday school teacher, R A leader and music director. Mr. Taylor loved basketball, hunting and fishing along the Chipola River.
Survived by his wife Emma Ruth Taylor; two daughters, Linda Neel and husband Ed, Bobbye Corbin and husband Jerry, all of Dothan; two sisters, Cleorice Duhon of Lake Charles, La., Carolyn Hall of Malone; four grandchildren, Scott Taylor, Adam, Andrew and Ellory Corbin; seven great-grandchildren, Meagan Dougherty, Jacob Don-Hubert Taylor, Lucie Scott Taylor, Alden Corbin, Taylor Corbin, Ella Grace Corbin and Jessie Stann.
James & Sikes Funeral Home in Marianna, Fla., (850) 482-2332, is in charge of arrangements.
