Sadie Pearl Seaborn Dunn died Wednesday, July 25, in Chipley, Fla.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 30, 2007, at the First Baptist Church, Chipley, Fla., with the Rev. Michael Orr and the Rev. Adolph Phares officiating. Burial will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery Chipley, Fla., with Brown Funeral Home directing. The Visitation will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, one hour prior to the service at the First Baptist Church, Chipley, Fla.
The family request donations be made to the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 643, Chipley, Fla., 32428 in her name or to Covenant Hospice, 4440 Lafayette St., Suite C, Marianna, Fla., 32446.
Mrs. Dunn was born May 10, 1913, in Barbour County, Ala. She was the seventh of eight children born to D.G. Seaborn and Ada Hartzog Seaborn of Dothan. She was educated in Dothan schools and graduated from Dothan High in 1932. She worked at Purity Ice Cream Co. in Dothan after graduation. Purity was owned by her brother, Lawrence G. Seaborn.
In 1940, she met and married J.W. (Toby) Dunn. They were married by Brother A.D. Zbinden at Headland Avenue Baptist Church, Dothan. In 1946, she moved to Donalsonville, Ga., where she and her husband owned and operated Dunn Furniture Co. for 13 years. Subsequently, she moved to Chipley, where she and her husband owned and operated Chipley Furniture Co. until their retirement in December 1986.
Mrs. Dunn was an active member of First Baptist Church in Chipley where she was a member of the Current Missions Baptist Womens Group and Fidelis Sunday School class. She taught the Sunday School class for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband J.W. (Toby) Dunn, her "buddy" for 63 years, on Nov. 3, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her brothers and sisters: O.L. Seaborn Sr., Kate Creel, Lawrence Seaborn, Irene Jenkins, Wade Seaborn, Estelle Helms and Jack Seaborn.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews, all of whom she was very close to throughout her life.
The family would like to express their appreciation to all the caregivers who have so lovingly cared for their aunt and uncle, and also to Covenant Hospice for their dedicated services.
Active pallbearers are her nephews: Jack Creel, Bobby Helms, Bill Seaborn, Jerry Seaborn, Johnny Mac Creel and Bobby Beiswinger.
