Mr. Winston Churchill (Pete) Peters of Ozark passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2007, at his home. He was 63.
Funeral services will be Saturday in Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel in Slocomb at 10 a.m. with the Revs. Bill Hovey and C.M. Holloway officiating. Burial will follow in Hartford City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 5 to 8 p.m. At other times, the family will be at the home of his sister, Barbara Pullum, 1465 Scott Road in Malvern.
Winston was born Dec. 17, 1943, in Geneva County to the late Alex Preston Peters and Nettie Lou Martin Peters. He was a graduate of Slocomb High School in 1964 where he was recognized for his outstanding accomplishments on the Red Top football team. He retired from Coca Cola Co. after 32 years and was known to his customers and friends as "Coke Man Pete." He was dearly loved by his wife, children, grandchildren, sisters and brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria Peters of Clio; two daughters, Caroline Peters Carnell (Robert) of Dothan, Amanda Neile Cheek (Jeff) of Charlotte, N.C; one son, Winston Alex Peters (Ranee) of Seattle; one stepdaughter, Sissy Williams of Panama City, Fla.; three stepsons, Brad Williams (Ronna) of Clio, Randy Williams (Jonna) of Dothan, Kenny Williams (Brenda) of Petrey; three sisters, Myrna Peters Smith of Dothan, Barbara Peters Pullum (Kire) of Slocomb, Elizabeth Peters Gilley (Robert) of Dothan; four brothers, James Alvin Peters (Ruth) of Dothan, Hayward Peters (Jo) of Hartford, Billy Wayne Peters (Charlotte) of Mossy Head, Fla., Murry Peters (Joyce) of Dothan; 13 grandchildren, Jackson Cheek, Jennings Cheek, Mandy Carnell, Candace Carnell, Savannah Carnell, Kenny Peters and Preston Peters, Jacob Williams, T.C. Williams, John Michael Bridges, Dusty Williams, Cade Easterling and Prestion Williams; several nieces and nephews; special Friends, Chuck and Jean Barnard, Wayne and Jeanette Sims, all of Ozark.
Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb, (334) 886-7777, is in charge of arrangements.
