Don Murphy of Level Plains, AL passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2007 in Enterprise following an extended illness. He was 75.
Funeral services will be 11 am Friday, July 27 at Park Avenue Baptist Church in Enterprise with the Reverends Leon Adams and Ralph Jones officiating. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10 am and continuing until service time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Vivian B. Adams School, Attn. PTP Class, 2047 Stuart Tartar Rd., Ozark, AL 36360 or Park Avenue Baptist Church, 300 East Park Ave., Enterprise, AL 36330.
Mr. Murphy was a member of Park Avenue Baptist Church and prior to moving to Level Plains, he was a member of Central Baptist Church in Opelika, where he served as a deacon for many years. He worked for Gulf Life and National Security Insurance for 15 years and he also worked for Crown Central Petroleum, from which he retired after 15 years. He had also served in the United States Army.
Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Murphy, Level Plains; a son, Mike Murphy, Level Plains; brother and sister-in-law, James and Margaret Murphy of Sarasota, FL; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Ross and Jeanette Dannelley of Defuniak Springs, FL, Bill and Nell Hughes of Level Plains, George and Glenda Wenschhof of Meeker, CO, Dudley and Helen Owens of Rock Face, GA, Tony and Carol Adams of, Gordon, AL, Terry and Sara Jo Adams of Wicksburg, AL, and Ted and Jeannie Adams of Rehobeth, AL; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Jerry and Starla Snellgrove.
Serving as pall bearers will be Jerry Snellgrove, Ray Howell, Leo Galimore, Phil Thomas, R.J. Lindsey, Mike Hughes, Roy Byrd, Roger Riley and Dewey Emfinger.
