Marion Pitchford of Haleburg, died Monday afternoon, July 23, 2007, in a Dothan hospital. She was 64.
Graveside services will be today in Haleburg Cemetery at 2 p.m. with the Revs. Matthew Quincey and Tim Morgan officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. today in the fellowship hall of the Haleburg Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Haleburg Baptist Church, c/o Mark Oakley, 1163 Davis Street, Columbia, AL 36319.
Miss Pitchford was reared in Haleburg, daughter of the late Frank Elmer Pitchford, Sr. and Bobbye Wesley Summerford Pitchford. She was a 1960 graduate of the Houston County High School in Columbia. Miss Pitchford formerly lived in Merritt Island, Florida, Seattle, Washington and Phoenix, Arizona before returning to Haleburg twenty-seven years ago. She was the owner and operator of Miss Marys antique shop in Columbia. In earlier years, Miss Pitchford was employed by Boeing Aircraft at the Kennedy Space Center and also in Seattle. She was an active member of the Haleburg Baptist Church.
Surviving relatives include two sisters, Sara Pitchford, Haleburg; Barbara Joyce Starr and husband, Larry Starr, Jasper, Ga.; a brother, Frank E. (Johnny) Pitchford, Jr. and wife, Katrene Pitchford, Pleasant Plains community; several nieces and nephews.
