The angels came quietly to take Mrs. Opal G. Snell home on Thursday morning, July 19, 2007. She was 83.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, from St. Rose Baptist Church in Skipperville with the Revs. Jerry Bennet, pastor, and Walter Pouge officiating. Interment will follow in St. Rose Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 23, at Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Chapel.
Mrs. Snell was born to Annis Green and Lola Culver in Ariton on Dec. 22, 1923. She was a 50-year charter member of Shiloh Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey H. Snell, two sons, Lemmie Mack Barrow and George O. Barrow.
Left to cherish her many memories are seven children, Betty Barrow of Ozark, Louise (Moses) Wilkerson of Enterprise, Bennie (Faye) Barrow of Ozark, Pearl Barrow of Ozark, Earl (Charrisse) Snell of Ozark, Dorene (David) Thornton of McCalla, Cora J. (Darrell) Sydnor of Kernersville, N.C.; and three sisters, Lera McKinnis of Skipperville, Ruth (Noah) Harper of Ozark, Evlen Williams of Skipperville. She leaves behind 17 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mitchell Johnson, Jerry Crittenden, Donnie Ware, Chris Miley, Wallace Morris and Larry Donnell.
Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home in Ozark, (334) 774-4551, is in charge of arrangements.
