Emma Lou Carter of Carrollton Ill., mother and grandmother of Dothan residents Dr. Jeffrey N. Carter and Reagon N. Carter, died Saturday, July 14, 2007, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Ill.
Funeral services will be Friday in Carrollton United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. with the Revs. Dale Wilfong and Kent W. Trimble officiating. Burial will be in Carrollton City Cemetery in Carrollton, Ill. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Carrollton United Methodist Church. Additional visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.
She was born on Aug. 21, 1929, in Kane, Ill., the daughter of David Kentner and Verna Hedwig Settemaier Williams.
She was married on Feb. 26, 1948, in Kane to Richard Neil Carter who survives at the home.
Other survivors include one son, Dr. Jeffrey Carter of Dothan; four daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn Carter of Springfield; twin daughters, Cathy and Melvin Musgrave of Griggsville, Ill. and Christy and Kent Trimble of Jefferson City, Mo.; and Julia and Anthony Pezold of Ashland, Ill.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandsons.
Memorials are suggested to Carrollton United Methodist Church, 426 Maple Street, Carrollton, IL 62016; or the Emma Lou Carter Educational Scholarship Fund at Carrollton High School.
