Charles Herman Moore

Charles Herman Moore, a resident of Clayhatchee, died Saturday mourning July 7, 2007, following an extended illness. He was 54. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday July 10, 2007, at Providence Baptist Church in Clayhatchee with the Rev. Ed Quattlebum and the Rev. Robert Beasley officiating. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow in the Providence Baptist Church Cemetery with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the residence of his mother, 389 E. Main Street Clayhatchee, Ala., Monday July 9, 2007, from 6 to 8 p.m. Charles was born April 9, 1953, in Hartford, Ala., to Herman Jackson Moore and Lucy Mae Thomas Moore. He was a life-long resident of Clayhatchee where he worked in his fathers machine shop from a young lad. Mr. Moore was a graduate of Daleville High School. After graduation from the Atmore Police Academy, he worked as a police officer for several surrounding communities. He returned to Moores Machine Shop, the family business, after his law enforcement service. Charles was an avid stockcar-racing mechanic who thoroughly enjoyed the sport. Mr. Moore also served as a city council member for the town of Clayhatchee. Charles is predeceased by his father, Herman Jackson Moore, and a special niece, Lana Kay Turner. Survivors include his mother, Lucy Mae Moore of Clayhatchee; one daughter, Amanda and Eric Goforth of Enterprise; two sisters, Judy Turner and Linda Bryant, both of Montgomery; one brother, James Moore of Opp; two grandchildren, Trent and Grant Goforth of Enterprise; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and caring lifelong friends. The family would also like to extend a special thank you the staff of Southern Care Hospice. Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home in Ozark, (334) 774-4551, is in charge of arrangements.
