Mr. Phillip Elmore of Dothan passed away Saturday morning July 7, 2007, at Flowers Hospital. He was 74.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday July 10, 2007, from the chapel of Kent-Thornton-Meadows Funeral Home in Dothan. The interment will immediately follow the service at Piney Grove Primitive Baptist Cemetery in Headland with Kent-Thornton-Meadows Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends Monday night from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home in Dothan.
Mr. Elmore was born April 8, 1933, in Headland, Ala., to the late Luther Elmore and Eva Ellison Elmore. He entered the military soon after high school serving two years in the United States Army and 18 years in the United States Air Force. After retirement from the United States Air Force, he worked for A.W. Herndon Oil Company for several years. He was also a member of the VFW. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and he also loved to play golf in his spare time.
He is preceded in death by one brother, Luther Carroll Elmore.
He is survived by three daughters, Felicia Elmore of Dothan, Donna Boyer of Barnwell, S.C., and Elizabeth Zissett and husband, Tim, of Barnwell, S.C.; one sister, Thelma Perry of Dothan; one granddaughter, Cassie Zissett of Barnwell, S.C.; special friend, Cherie Wilson and husband David of Webb.
Kent-Thornton-Meadows Funeral Home in Dothan, (334) 793-1117, is in charge of arrangements.
