Mr. Robert H. "Bob" Perala of Ozark died Tuesday morning, July 3, 2007, at Dale Medical Center. He was 72.
Funeral services will be Saturday in the Chapel of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Bill Hart officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memory Gardens with full military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 6 to 8 p.m.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to The Childrens Hospital/University of Alabama at Birmingham, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (Pediatric), 1600 Seventh Ave. south, Birmingham, AL 35233
Mr. Perala was born March 2, 1935, in New York Mills, Minn., the son of the late Philip Herman Perala and Mildred Laurila Perala. Robert proudly served four years in the U.S. Air Force. He then joined the U.S. Army where he worked as an aircraft mechanic, retiring after 21 years of service. After his military service Robert was employed as a data collector at Cairns Army Airfield. Mr. Perala loved his family and was extremely proud of his grandchildren. He was of the Lutheran faith.
He is predeceased by two brothers, Marvin and Loren Perala; three sisters, Carol Januszewski, Sandra Mazzei and Kathleen Haugen.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Evelyn J. Perala of Ozark; two daughters and sons-in-law, Katrina and Jeffrey Stephens of Ozark, Nicole and Chris Peters of Ozark; one son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Mary Perala of Moundville, Mo.; three sisters, Eldora Blom and Phyllis Rothiger both of Minnesota, Helen Perala of Texas; two brothers, Clayton Perala and Robin Perala, both of Minnesota; eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Jimmy and Josh Stephens of Ozark, Emma and Evan Peters of Ozark, Wesley and Travis Perala, of Missouri, and Ann Marie Perala of North Carolina; mother-in-law, Armia Paavola of Minnesota; three sisters and brothers-in-law.
Serving as pallbearers will be Craig Perala, Travis Perala, Wesley Perala, Jimmy Stephens, Josh Stephens, Marcus Stephens, Tommy Brakefield and Bill Jones.
Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home in Ozark, (334) 774-4551, is in charge of arrangements.
