Sergeant William Edward Brown of Enterprise, AL passed away Saturday, June 23, 2007 in Taji, Iraq, while serving his second tour in Iraq. He was 25.
Funeral services will be held 2 pm Sunday, July 1, 2007 from the Patterson-Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Billy Quinn and Battalion Chaplain Kirby officiating. Burial will follow in the Memory Hill Cemetery in Dothan with Patterson-Sorrells Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 6 until 8 pm.
SGT Brown was born December 22, 1981 in Wichita, KS to the late 1st SGT (RET) Edward Brown and Theresa Kyser. He attended elementary school in Dothan, AL and Conyers Middle School in Conyers, GA, and graduated from Phil Campbell High School in Phil Campbell, AL in 2002. He joined the United States Army June 20, 2002 and served in Bravo Co. 5/158 Avn. Regt. in Iraq from March 2003 until March 2004. He had been stationed at Ft. Carson, CO since January 2006 in Charlie Co. 2-227 Avn. Regt., also known as the “Witchdoctors”. He had served in Iraq since September 2006.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandfather, Elmer W. Bierbaum.
Survivors include his wife, Rachel Brown, and 2 sons, Ethan and Tyler Brown, all of Enterprise; mother and step-father, Theresa and SGT (RET) Mickey Kyser, Daleville, AL; 3 sisters, Barbara Cherry (Eddie), Hartford, AL, Angela Kyser, Daleville, Marla Brown, Dallas, GA; 1 brother, Marty Brown (Stephanie), Stockbridge, GA; grandmother, Marie Bierbaum, Dothan; 3 nephews, William Cherry, Nathaniel Brown, and Zachary Brown; 2 nieces, Rubye Cherry and Cecilia Brown; fellow “Brothers in Arms”, and his second family still serving in Iraq.
