We all want to cut down on our utility bills, but we also want to be
comfortable in our homes with the right amount of heat, power, water,
and air conditioning. Could there be a way to balance these needs, and
at the same time, fulfill them in an environmentally-friendly way? This
home might be the possible answer. Let's take a look at the Pella Windows and Doors in the North Texas Zero Energy Home
Located in Frisco, a suburb of Dallas, the North Texas Zero Energy Home is an innovative and stylish home, built by AndersonSargent Custom Builder, L.P. that produces as much power as it consumes. From the solar panels on the roof to the low-flow faucets inside, every aspect of this home was designed to be energy-efficient.
When it came to time to pick energy-efficient windows, Master Builder Jim Sargent chose Pella windows. Sargent explains "The architectural style of the Pella windows and the architectural style of this house really blended well together. One of my big concerns in building this home was that people would think that it was kind of strange looking. There’s a history of energy-efficient homes having to be made out of straw bale or something like that and I wanted to demonstrate that it could be a beautiful home that could fit into an upscale, North Dallas neighborhood. The Pella windows helped me do that."
Pella’s Architect Series®
All of the windows in the Zero Energy Home are from Pella’s Architect Series®. These windows replicate the historic look of true divided light (single panes of glass separated by grilles) with architecturally accurate grilles placed on the inside and outside of glass.
The windows have numerous features. Pella casements feature integrated cranks with fold-away handles that won’t interfere with window treatments, plus Pella’s patented SureLock® System that reaches out to engage and lift the window sash, pulling it tight against the weather-stripping.
Other window options include Pella’s Rolscreen® retractable insect screen, which rolls up and out of sight when not in use, and the Vivid View™ screen, which is 50 percent more transparent and allows 67 percent more ventilation than a traditional screen.
Not only did Pella provide windows to the Zero Energy Home, but it also supplied energy-efficient doors. Like the windows, the doors are designed to match the décor of the house. Pella doors feature multi-point hardware, so when you lift up the handle, the door locks at the head and at the sill. They’re also designed to keep out sound and weather.
