COMMISSION DISCUSSES FARM CENTER

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Board members of the Houston County Farm Center asked Houston County Commission Chairman Mark Culver in early February to dissolve the Farm Center`s Board, and accept their resignation. The County Commission Board did just that, and the Farm Center currently has no Board of Directors. And what, if any, are the repercussions from this? WDHN reporter Casey Browning interviewed Mickey Sego, who said that things couldn`t be running more smoothly. He said in fact, the center is running so well without a board, they aren`t in the market for a new one. Yesterday, the Houston County Commissioners passed a budget amendment motion that would alot money to the Farm Center for new equjipment. Sego said that when in operation under the old board, they worked for years to get the county to make meaningful improvements at the Farm Center. When the board saw no action being taken on the part of the commission, they decided there was no need for a board. Sego also says, that the commission has never turned down budgeting anything they`ve needed at the Farm Center, and yesterday was another example of that. While they never ask for anything frilly or fancy Sego says they always have the necessities. Friday night there will be a horse show at the Farm Center, and on Saturday night you can find wrestling in the arena.
